Working to fill the trades gap
September 2019
With the majority of baby boomers retiring within the next 10 years there will be a massive trades gap. High school graduates are moving onto college instead of filling these spots. With this initiative ran by Trades Hub, they are trying to encourage students to go a different path where you can learn a trade and get a job faster. Follow one of our youngest installers through a day in the shop and on a job site to see what it is like to work for Interscapes.
Interscapes Architectural Woodwork
December 2018
We manufacture, supply and install wood, laminates, solid surface, metal, glass, acrylic, and booths for our customers. Our sales per square foot are 2.5 times the average cabinet shops’ sales because we use Lean techniques in our plant. The Winstore is set to almost double the production of our CNC routers. With Winstore-enabled production, there is nothing limiting us from producing whatever our customers can dream up.
Waste Not Want Not
October 2008
Interscapes is lessening its impact on the environment by recycling 99% of the waste it produces. We are saving 1820 cubic yards of waste per year from ending up in landfills. Instead, it is now being shredded and ground up for use as animal bedding. We also have the capacity to recycle all of the cabinets we build when their life cycle ends.
Lean, the Second Go-Round
April 2008
While on vacation, Ron Lyrek decided to catch up on his reading. Not one for a light read, Lyrek worked his way through “Lean Solutions” by James P. Womack. By the time he finished it, Lyrek realized he needed to make some changes in his company, Interscapes, Inc.
“As always, you guys did a great job! I thoroughly enjoy working with you and all of your employees! You consistently make my job, and my superintendent’s job easier because we know we can rely on you to complete your work to the highest standards! I hope we have an opportunity to work together again soon! Thank you!”
